Reading: In reading this week, we read a new story titled Sarah, Plain and Tall. It's about a family of three. Caleb, Anna, and Mr. Witting. [Jacob] When Jacob places an ad in the newspaper for a new wife, the kids get curious. But when she arrives, she is so good with them. Her name is Sarah. Sarah comes from Maine so she has many stories about the sea. Her brother William, is a fisher. After around 3 days, Jacob, Caleb, and Anna know that she was going to be a great contribution to the family.
English: This week in english, we learned about the greek word, tropos, [which means turning], and our 4th Wordly Wise list.
Math: We have been learning about long division, times and dates, and prime numbers this week in math. For example, how many seconds are in a minute, or how many minutes are in an hour.
Science: In science, we learned about ecosystems and environments, such as the desert, the rainforest, and coral reefs.
Social studies: This week in social studies, we were working on our region posters. The four regions that we were able to choose from were the coast, the Central Valley, the desert, and the mountains.
Other: A few other activities we attended this week were PE, library, science lab, music, an earthquake drill, and the student council elections.
As you can see, room 23 has had an amazing week!
